they could do this: 'In anticipation of the coming of gw2 we would like to give you a sneak peak quest,...go to embark beach and help....' would work just fine for the birthday celebration--since all they are doing with this quest is pushing gw2.

Heck yeah! I loved last years. Quests are 100 times better than just changing how your characters looks while in town.

Of course, but you used that logic: "I did not find it fun, so they shouldnt have done it" I did the same.

No they couldn't seeing as time traveling still doesnt exist in Lore, therefore it would only work as a joke-quest.

Something is funny as long as enough people find it funny.

Last year's was a blast for many people, not just because of the 'free points'.
I've seen people laughing their asses off just after reading the name of the "Sky Net" skill when the annihilator golem used it.

To be fair, time traveling DOES exist in lore.
The Mists lead not only to other worlds, but to other times too.
In GW2, all PvP is reached though the mists, even world PvP, and some of the battlefields are in the past, like the Battle of Kyhlo.

Still, the annihilator quest can't be considered canon, as it has many inconsistencies, probably on purpose, and well, Commandos, and we know GW2 has no commandos.
So you could say that it's something that "we do", but that "never happened".

lol @ all the babbies that say the GW2 holiday was their best April Fool's

I would like something to happen that borrows off of THIS game's legacy:

1) just once I'd like to see the joke skill patch actually implemented for one day.
2) have Dhuum randomly kill players and log them out (or imitate whatever the ban screen says).

If people are gonna be butthurt about getting logged out during a run or something, replace all drops with something like "Skull of Dead Man" (indicating all of the people that are getting owned)

If people can't even handle one day of great fun, they can go play their GW2 betas and laugh with eachother about last year's EPIC COMMANDO QUEST!!

I don't think stickfigures and genderbending fit in with the lore either. I think it's safe to say that whatever happens on april first doesn't need to be taken too seriously.

Ah yes, because your opinion is worth so much more than everybody else

1) Could work but feels rather silly to do, takes time and such.
2) That would be idiotic unless it only happen in outposts.

Hard to accept that people are different than you, aye?

All bets are off on April 1st. It's April Fool's Day. Lore, Logic, Common Sense. It's all out the window. ArenaNet has some of the best, if not the best jokes in all of gaming. Here's to hoping for another one this year.

right back at you on that one.

Not everyone is going to be happy with whatever they do, some people enjoy doing a quest while others enjoy character changes, some people want them to do something to pvp, while others couldnt care less if they deleted pvp altogether.....

maybe we are all wrong and its just everyone getting to look like golems this year instead of a week of a quest---

we shall see in just 40 some odd hours.

The best anet did was the one where an update happened ( few normal fixes ) and the release notes said about Ursan being allowed in pvp - and you actually had ppl in ab shouting their ursan ranks and lfg ursan - classic

It would be a true shame if they didn't come up with something funny yet again this year and did another cop out with a quest with any sort of serious reward on a joke holiday... oh well, suppose I'm just being a bit pessimistic about the whole lot of things.

Well.. looks like a retread of last year.

I expect a canned skill set, 1.4 mins of "oh cool" followed by several days of mindless faction grinding for most "fans" of this crap.

One day of sillyness.. that is April Fools. Not non-stop faction grinding that both overly rewards and circumvents the normal aquisition of it.

It was a poor decision last year.. not the prank itself.. but making it a faction bonanza. It ceased being a funny prank when people gained significant title progress doing it non stop.

lol, that'd be awesome, if monsters suffer the same AND being optional, with some quest or something
and it being a random flux effect when entering an exploreable area (imagine with WiK and WoC HM )

i dont pvp, but saw some through GWW

but all i'd like to see is this for 1 day, not only having that effect for april fools quests

make pve general funnier, not making whole stories again, waste of energy and time, as i wont play it o_O

but playing in pre areas with 3/5/7 heroes and lvl 20 enemies would be funny :O
then special charr bags which act like consumables and cause some kinda buff or nerf, maybe good or bad flux, lol

well, just some ideas, but i guess it'll be that weird one from last year (yea, i found it a weird happening, tbh)

April Monthly Flux: Everyone's A Winner!

Note: This flux's power source could not be contained in just PvP and now all players gain the flux's effect.

- If you are a Warrior, all adrenaline based skills cost 1 less adrenaline to use. Gain +1 to your Strength attribute.
- If you are a Mesmer, whenever you use a hex spell that costs 10 or less energy, it lasts 6 seconds longer. Gain 3 energy whenever a hex spell ends on an ally, provided you are within spirit range of said ally.
- If you are a Monk, whenever you use a Divine Favor or Smiting Prayers skill, all allies in spirit range gain 16 health. If you are the only Monk on your team, gain +1 to your Divine Favor attribute.
- If you are a Necromancer, all conditions, hexes and time knocked down end 25% faster. If you life steal, steal 17% more health.
- If you are an Assassin, you move 25% faster for 4 seconds whenever you use an attack skill. If you are suffering from a condition, you deal 20% more damage to anyone under the effects of an enchantment or stance.
- If you are a Ritualist, you gain +30 health for each weapon spell on your skill bar. Whenever you take 100 or more damage from a single source, one Spirit of Pain (Level 15) spawns nearby your location under your control. Up to 4 Spirits of Pain can appear.
- If you are a Dervish, whenever an enchantment ends on you, deal 50 holy damage to all nearby foes. Whenever you suffer from Weakness or Cracked Armor, you deal 10% more damage.
- If you are an Elementalist, you now have +20 armor. Whenever you use a skill that costs exactly 15 energy that would target a foe, it deals an extra 20 fire damage, 20 cold damage, 20 lightning damage and 20 chaos damage to target foe and all nearby foes.
- If you are a Paragon, whenever a chant or shout ends on you, allies within earshot gains +5 armor, +50 health and +7 energy for 18 seconds. Whenever you die, any resurrection skills your entire party may have are instantly recharged.
- If you are a Ranger, whenever you use a bow attack, it deals +11 more damage. Whenever you suffer from a condition, gain 1 health regeneration. Whenever a condition ends on you, all allies within earshot also lose a condition.

wiki joke: all rangers with at least 1 point in beast mastery, will have their pets with them automatically (just made up)
another: rangers can take 3 pets at the same time by taking comfort animal, heal as one and charm animal with them (funny, but would be cool too... for now it should a joke)

Sorry, I enjoyed last years because it was a change of pace. Something we haven't seen before. I didn't mindlessly grind faction doing a silly quest. I ran it a couple times on different characters and had fun, which is what April Fool's should be about.

Logging in to find your character looks different in town is fun for about 3 seconds. Especially now with all the tonics we have already.

While many people were grinding last years quest, I also know many who came back to play it. People are done with being transformed, it's boring and not worth logging in for. A new quest, whether it rewards faction or not, is something new and exciting that will bring people back to the game, if only for a day.

I agree with you, GW is so repetitious eventually even the most obsessed must get bored. A new quest once in a while, especially ones that are funny help keep people around until GW2.
